“处世奇”所收纳句品均为清言，格相似，起朗朗，既韵律又散文流畅。些编辑成集、主题鲜句品，被柔美化格言，似非，似文非文，品文种，形式介于箴言警句散文之文，通常由对仗或排比两句或两段组成，以达到均衡与谐之美。由清言汇集而成籍叫清言集或清言品集，分编分编两种，题材自由，例松散，所收清言品数量则百则、则数百则等，每则品篇幅则个字，则逾百。容涵盖古贤经典民俗文化，其尤以演绎儒释之言为，形式精致，文飘逸清雅，具“品品（林语堂语）”美称。
